The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has announced that the QC Prosecutor's Office has indicted the gunman in the Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) shooting incident last Sunday, July 24.
According to the QCPD, the QC Prosecutor's Office released a three-page resolution on Wednesday, July 27, that recommended the following against the suspect, Dr. Chao-Tiao Yumol:
- three counts of murder in relation to Sec. 29 of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition) with no bail
- one count of frustrated murder in relation to RA 10591 with bail amounting to P200,000
- one count of violation of Sec. 3 of RA 10883 (Anti-Carnapping Law) with no bail
- one count for violation of Sec. 31 of R.A. 10591 with bail amounting to P60,000
- one count of malicious mischief with bail amounting to P3,000
The QCPD on Monday, July 25, filed the complaints against Yumol before the QC Prosecutor's Office following his arrest.
Yumol opened fire at the ADMU campus on Sunday, which resulted in the death of Rosita "Rose" Furigay, former mayor of Lamitan Basilan; Victor Capistrano, the former mayor's aide; and Jeneven Bandiala, an ADMU security guard.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office dahil sa kanilang agarang tugon sa kasong ito. Dapat lamang na managot ang suspek sa kanyang ginawang krimen. Makakaasa po kayo na ang hanay ng kapulisan ng QCPD ay magtatrabaho ng tapat at buong husay at patuloy na gagampanan ang mga nakaatang na tungkulin upang mapanatili ang kaayusan at kapayapaan sa lungsod Quezon (I thank the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office for its immediate action on this case. The suspect must be held accountable for his crime. You can expect the QCPD to work honestly and efficiently, and to continue to perform its assigned duties to maintain order and peace in Quezon City)," QCPD Director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said.
