He has been an actor for more than a decade now but it's no secret that Kapuso hunk Alden Richards has also dipped his fingers in several businesses.

He deemed these "side hustles."

During a recent virtual press conference, the 30-year-old shared the things he learned as businessman and how it helped him breathe life into Tristan or Good Boy in the upcoming “Start-Up PH.”

Note the TV series follows a group of young individuals eager to fulfill their dreams and start their own businesses.

According to Alden, the biggest lesson he learned as businessman is to avoid making decisions based on emotions.

He related: "When it comes to business, you always have to be subjective and never be too emotional lalo na with decision-making."

"Sobrang difficult nun when emotions get in the way. Dapat medyo mag-step back ka muna and buoin mo muna yung sarili mo. Never make a decision when you're too high on certain emotions - good or bad man yan - too happy, too sad, too mad, too anything, kasi you will regret your decision," he added.

Asia's Multimedia Star continued, "And when it comes to progress, mas naniniwala pa rin ako sa slow burn rather than making it big immediately."

He also pointed out, "It's alright to set your expectations high but leave a space for failure."

"Siyempre hindi naman lahat will go according to your plan, meron at meron pa ring matitisod at matitisod ka, but of course, going back, there is no failure naman, only lessons. And you learn from it."

"'Yun 'yung beauty of being CEO in real life, you always have to open yourself to possibilities. Meaning good or bad. Ganun siya e," he said.

"When you step into being a businessman, ine-expose mo yung sarili mo with all these possibilities na pwedeng mangyari sayo. But the good thing is that you keep learning from it. Hindi yung isang failure... Again, hindi mo kailangan tanggapin lahat o pagdadaanan lahat tapos yung bida yung emosyon," he added.

His experiences helped him a lot portraying Tristan inasmuch as "lahat ata ng na tackle na problema dun sa 'Start-Up' naranasan ko."

His character will have romantic relations with that of Bea Alonzo in the series.

Is it really a good thing business-wise?

Alden smiled and noted the importance of establishing a clear boundary between personal and professional life.

"Kapag pinaghalo mo yan, not good!"
