DPWH identifies three Ilocos Sur roads as not passable

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union â€“ The Department of Public Works and Highways identified three roads in Ilocos Sur that are not passable, and roads in La Union and Pangasinan that can accommodate only light vehicles.

The DPWH in region 1 said that as of 5:00 p.m. on Thursday (July 28), the Tagudin-Cervantes Road K0353+100, Junction Santiago-Banayoyo-Lidlida-San Emilio-Quirino Road, K0393+000, and Cervantes-Aluling-Bontoc Road, K0387+(-950), Brgy. Aluling, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur are not passable due to major land/rock slides caused by the earthquake.

Clearing of these roads will resume Friday.

Meanwhile, the La Union 2nd District Engineering Office said that San Luis Bridge 2 K0220+759, in Rosario-Pugo Road is passable only for vehicles of up to 10 tons.

Vehicles above 10 tons may take Manila North Road/Agoo-Baguio City Road and vice versa.

The Pangasinan 2nd DEO reported Thursday night that the Dawel Bridge, K0380+058-K0380+182, Dagupan-Bonuan-San Fabian Road is passable only for vehicles of up to 5 tons.

The Dawel Bridge was partially damaged due to the impact of the earthquake that struck northern Luzon on Wednesday morning, July 27.

Vehicles above five tons are advised to take Pangasinan-La Union Inter Provincial Road (Dagupan-Mangaldan Road Section) and vice versa.
