Police declare 2 high-profile crimes in Cagayan de Oro case cleared
CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police have considered two recent high-profile crimes in this city in which two people were killed as case cleared.
Lawmen said Wednesday, July 27, that the case of 24-year-old Cris Semaña, the delivery rider who was stabbed to death July 17 on Coastal Road, Barangay Lapasan, is considered a cleared case as there is only one suspect left who is currently at large.
Two of the three suspects in this case were arrested on July 17 and July 19. The Agora police identified the suspects as Erwin Adame and Daniel Peligrino, both residents of St. John, Barangay Puntod, here.
The minor girlfriend of Semaña, who was one of the victims in the incident, positively identified Adame as one of the suspects who stabbed his boyfriend and positively identified Peligrino as the person who raped her.
The Agora police confirmed that she was raped based on the result of the medico-legal examination.
Police Lt. Macario Linog Jr., Agora police deputy commander, said in a phone interview that the at-large suspect in Semaña’s case has been identified and a case has already been filed.
“Wala pa nato nadakpan ang suspek (We have not caught the (at-large) suspect yet) identified lang po (we just identified him) and a case was already filed against him (at large suspect) together with the two arrested suspects,” Linog said.
The Cogon police station has identified the three suspects in the killing of a 28-year-old man on Corrales St., Barangay 29, July 23.
The police identified the victim as Avelino John Mahorenos of Luyong Bonbon, Opol, Misamis Oriental.
Aside from the identification of the suspects, Police Major Julius Saluta, Cogon police station chief, said Wednesday, July 27, that they have filed a case against the suspects.
The Cogon police have coordinated with the suspects’ relatives. They were told that they are willing to help them convince the suspects to surrender.
“Amo man gud to gi-adtoan sa area, niya wala na didto. Gi-estorya namo ang mga paryente ug mutabang daw kuno sila pag-convince nga musurrender na (We proceeded to the area and they (suspects) were already not there. We talked to the relatives and they said they were willing to help in convincing them to surrender),” Saluta said.
Initial investigation showed a fistfight occurred inside a resto bar between the suspects and the victim prior to the shooting that happened outside the establishment.
Manhunt operation against the suspects is ongoing.
Saluta clarified information circulating in social media and said that they can only consider a case closed if all suspects are already arrested.
In this case, since the suspects have not been arrested, they considered it as “case cleared.”
