Pangasinan provincial government suspends work following earthquake


LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Gov. Ramon V. Guico III suspended work in the provincial government at noon Wednesday, July 27, following the magnitude-7 earthquake hours earlier.

Guico, in the order signed on his behalf by provincial administrator Melicio F. Patague, said this will enable employees to join their families and assure their safety and security.

However, work remains at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), General Services Office (GSO), Provincial Health Office (PHO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and provincial hospitals.

These offices are essential for emergencies and have been ordered to provide the necessary assistance to those affected.

Calasiao, Pangasinan Mayor Mamilyn Agustin-Caramat suspended work in the LGU.

She issued Executive Order No. 33, Series of 2022, halting work in government offices except for those vital in emergency operations.

“The Municipality of Calasiao, on July 27, at around 8:43 a.m., had an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.3. The said earthquake may have compromised the structural integrities of government offices, thus, a need for thorough inspection of these premises to ensure safety and security is advised,” Caramat said in the order.

Caramat said that the suspension of work in private companies, offices, and schools is left to the discretion of their heads.
