No poll offices damaged by quake, says Comelec

No field office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) suffered any major structural damage from Wednesday's magnitude 7 earthquake.

Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said this referring to their field offices in Regions 1, 2, 3 and CAR.

In a statement, he said, no election field officer or staff were also injured due to the earthquake.

Laudiangco said Acting Chairperson Socorro B.Inting also directed Executive Director Bartolome J Sinocruz Jr to issue a Memorandum "suspending work in all areas directly affected by the earthquake, in conjunction with similar work suspensions issued by their respective local government units."

"Also, all Regional Election Directors are directed by the Commission en banc to assess their respective field offices as well as their operations therefor, and make their reports accordingly," he said.

The magnitude 7 quake struck different parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila on Wednesday, July 27.
