DASMARIÑAS CITY, Cavite – A 17-year-old male died after a suspended steel bridge in Sitio Talisayan, Barangay Sampaloc IV collapsed Tuesday night, July 26.
The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the victim as John Michael P. Beltran.

Five more victims were injured, including three teens a 12-year-old girl.
Barangay Information Officer April Rose Movido told the Manila Bulletin that two of the injured victims were hospitalized while the other three sustained minor injuries.
The search and retrieval operation for seven more missing victims is still ongoing as of 12:30 p.m.

The Dasmariñas City Police Station said the 13 victims were hanging out on the bridge when it collapsed into the river.
Movido told the Manila Bulletin that the bridge, locally known as "Tulay na Luma" or "Tulay na Hapon," has long been closed to the public as it is very old.
However, some residents, particularly the youth, often hang out on the bridge despite its compromised structural integrity.
