CEBU CITY – Police arrested 12 persons and seized suspected shabu valued at P68,000 in a drug den raid in Barangay Tisa here Wednesday, July 27.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Visayas (PDEA 7) arrested Arnel Pacaña, a 49-year-old aircon technician and the alleged maintainer of the drug den.
Eleven persons were also arrested after they were caught inside the drug den – Joel G. Villejo, 39; Steven A. Monares, 24; Giovanni D. Intic, 45; Nelson S. Odchigue, 58; Jefferson S. Cubillo, 26; Irenio B. Mendez, 26; Ricky M. Hortezano, 37; Alex A. Altamira, 54; Rodulfo I. Castillon, 39; Rolando N. Quibilan, 57; and Gil R. Silvosa, 40.
Seized from them were 19 packs of suspected shabu with an estimated market value of P68,000, buy-bust money, and various drug-sniffing paraphernalia.
Leia Alcantara, information officer of PDEA 7, said an informant tipped them that Pacaña was capable of selling 50 grams of shabu a week.
Alcantara added that the PDEA 7 will continue monitoring individuals suspected to be operating drug dens in this city.
“Dismantling of drug dens is considered a high-impact operation as drug dens are breeding ground for violence and criminality and disrupt peace and order in the community,” Alcantara said.
