The two-day humanitarian mission was held by the Semi Di Speranza which also conducted a similar activity here last May.

“We are a non-profit humanitarian organization devoted to uplifting the lives of Filipino families through programs and services that are fitted to promote the holistic development of our beneficiaries,” said Chili Tita Cabatingan, founder of Semi Di Speranza.

The noble activity was held last July 23 to 24 in Barangay Poblacion, Carmen, Cebu where at least 5,000 residents availed themselves of free eye checkups and were given free eyeglasses.

Cabatingan said at least 80 individuals received free wheelchairs.

She added that sacks of rice were also distributed during the activity.

Cabatingan disclosed that one of the benefactors of the foundation’s humanitarian mission is Francis Leo Marcos, who ran but lost for senator in last May’s election.

During the campaign period, Marcos promised to hold a series of humanitarian missions in Cebu.

Though he failed in his Senate bid, Marcos fulfilled his promise a few weeks after the elections when he tied up with the foundation in giving free wheelchairs, medicines, and eyeglasses at the City Sports Institute Gym in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City.

“We will conduct more humanitarian missions in the future, we definitely reach out to more people,” said Cabatingan.
