The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a road network in Siargao Island, one of the top tourist spots in the country.
DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan said the improvement along Jct. National Road – Antipolo – Tuboran – Quezon – Mabini Road in Siargao Island will not only benefit the tourists but also the local residents.
“The concreting of the road shoulder and line canal which will help accommodate a larger volume of traffic and ensure the safety and vehicle maneuverability of motorists by clearing the right-of-way,” said Bonoan.

The 1.16-kilometer road widening project in Siargao Island was completed in June 2022 with a total allocation of ₱16-million pesos.
Siargao is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the country because of the variety of attractions on the island aside from surfing and fishing competitions.
DPWH Region 13 Director Pol M. Delos Santos said the recent completion of the road widening project will definitely ensure ease in mobility of people and goods especially during emergency.
“We experienced first-hand the difficulty of reaching our kababayans during relief operations because the roads were narrow and blocked with debris after the onslaught of Typhoon Odette,” said Delos Santos.
