Caloocan LGU helps 253 former drug users through community-based rehabilitation program

The Caloocan City government has helped a total of 253 former users of illegal drugs through the Community Assisted Rehabilitation and Research Outpatient Treatment and Training System (CARROTS) under the Caloocan Anti-Drug Abuse Office (CADAO).

“Tulad po ng aking laging sinasabi, walang puwang ang mga tulak sa Caloocan ngunit sa abot ng ating makakaya tutulungan natin ang mga biktima na muling makabalik bilang mahalagang bahagi ng ating lungsod (As I always say, there is no room for drug pushers in Caloocan but as much as we can, we will help the victims to come back as an important part of our city),” Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said in a statement.

The completion rites of the individuals was held at Caloocan Sports Complex in Barangay 171 on Tuesday, July 26.

“Paiigtingin pa po natin ang ating pakikipaglaban kontra ilegal na droga alinsunod sa bilin ng ating alkalde. Kasabay nito, hahanap pa po tayo ng paraan para mapaunlad din ang ang programa natin tungo sa rehabilitasyon naman ng ating mga kababayan na nais nang magbagong buhay(We will intensify our fight against illegal drugs in accordance with the order of our mayor. At the same time, we will find a way to develop our program towards the rehabilitation of our countrymen who want to change their lives),” CADAO officer-in-charge Sonny Amoyo said.

Mayor Malapitan said the program aims to reintegrate the former users to society as they eventually heal from the long-term abuse of illegal drugs.
