In a report posted on PCSO's website, the lucky winner said that it took him 21 years of betting before winning the jackpot.

The winning combination, drawn on July 9, was 27-18-26-13-02-03.

"Matagal ko na pong alaga ang mga numero na tumama. Galing po ito sa birthday ng aking mga anak kaya gusto ko pong gamitin ito sa kanilang pag-aaral para magkaroon po sila ng magandang kinabukasan (I have been keeping the winning numbers for a long time. It was from the birth dates of my children so I want to use the money for their studies in order for them to have a good future)," he shared.

The new millionaire encouraged the public to try their luck in playing lotto games.

"Tumaya lang po sila ng tumaya sa lotto para manalo po sila dahil totoo pong may nananalo po sa lotto kaya po ako nandito sa PCSO ngayon (They should just keep on betting because they can really win in lotto, that is the reason I am here at PCSO)," he said.

PCSO said that participating in lotto games is one way to bring hope to more Filipinos.

"Your P20.00 bet is not a wager but a contribution for health programs especially for our needy kababayans. That’s why I am encouraging every Filipino with legal age to continue patronizing all our games," added PCSO.

The agency reminded that prizes exceeding P10,000 are subject to 20 percent tax under the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion Law.

Prizes not claimed within one year after the draw shall be considered forfeited said PCSO.
