Aeta youth graduates from DICT's digital literacy program

A total of 35 Indegenous Peoples (IP) youth from an Aeta community in Porac, Pampanga finished a digital literacy program spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) - Pampanga.

The project was in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, DICT Region 3 - Free Wifi Team, Pampanga Community Service Center, and the local government unit of Porac.

The training ran from July 18 to 22 at Barangay Inararo in Porac, Pampanga.

According to a Facebook post by DICT - Pampanga, the activity targeted to provide a "basic training course on computer and Internet essentials, computer hardware, networking and troubleshooting, document processing, electronic spreadsheet, and multimedia presentation."

The department also noted that its goal was to narrow the "gap of the digital divide" and allow the IP youth to become proficient with the use of technology.

"It is essential that these can also be received, understood and used by indigenous people," DICT Pampanga added.
