Woman dies saving 2 drowning minors in Quezon beach

SARIAYA, Quezon – A 46-year-old woman died rescuing two drowning minors in a beach in Barangay Guis-guis Talon, this town, Sunday, July 24.

The Sariaya police identified the victim as Juvelyn Cabrera, single, of Barangay San Isidro, Taysan, Batangas.

Police withheld the names of the minors. One of them was taken to the Lucena United Doctors Hospital in Lucena City.

Investigation showed that the victims, together with their relatives, had a swimming party on the beach.

At 4:30 a.m., the two minors went to swim but they started to drown upon reaching the deep portion of the sea.

Cabrera swam to save them but she drowned after saving one of the minors.

She and the other minor were rescued by responding residents but Cabrera was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.
