Scattered rains to persist over parts of PH due to LPA

A low pressure area (LPA) will continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, July 25.

As of 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated at 455 kilometers (km) east-northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte or at 390 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

Due to this weather disturbance, Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Bicol Region, and Negros Occidental will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

PAGASA advised these areas to stay vigilant as “moderate to at times heavy rains” may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
