Presidential sister Imee to ask PBBM to name agriculture smugglers

"It's time to get mad."

That was one piece of advice Senator Imee Marcos said she would give her brother President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 25, when he delivers his first State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Marcos said "as super ate (older sister)" she wants the President to be enraged and name "all the agricultural smugglers that are damaging our local industry."

She made the call amid the rising inflation rate and the lingering crisis brought by Covid-19 pandemic.

"Sana takutin nya at kasuhan lahat ng mga nasa gobyerno (I hope he threatens and sues all those doing illegal activities in the government)," added Marcos, hoping that her brother, who is also the head of the Department of Agriculture, will end the suffering of the Filipinos by also ending the illegal activities of the smugglers.

"May kasalanan dyan ang mga importer, kartel, lahat ng sindikato sa DA, pwede ba tapusin na natin 'yan (Those at fault here are the importers, cartels and other syndicates in the DA. Can we stop what they're doing?)," she added in an interview after the opening of the 19th Congress.
