“With the direction of Chairman and CEO Richard Gordon, the Philippine Red Cross quickly dispensed eight (8) bags of blood for the affected individuals,” said Dr. Christie Monina Nalupta.

She is the director of the PRC National Blood Service.

Four units of packed red cells came from PRC Quezon City Chapter, while another four units of platelet concentrates were from PRC National Headquarters, added Nalupta.

PRC reiterated the importance of having a sufficient supply of blood in the blood banks to save the lives of those who will need it, particularly in times of emergency.

The organization also shared that it has provided over 40 percent of the country’s blood requirement for 2022.

PRC noted that its blood banks collect 15,000 to 20,000 blood units a day from donors so it always has enough supply for patients.

The shooting incident happened on July 24 and claimed the lives of three individuals.
