The Parañaque City government launched the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) on Monday, July 25, for 300 student beneficiaries.
Mayor Eric Olivarez announced the launching of SPES during the regular virtual flag ceremony held at the Parañaque City Hall quadrangle.
Olivarez said the 300 student beneficiaries will be trained in the facets of public service in offices where they will be assigned at the City Hall..
He said each beneficiary will receive a P570 allowance per day for 30 days or an equivalent of P17,100 for one month to help them in their expenses this coming school year.
The launching of SPES was held at the San Antonio gym which was attended 150 students who comprise the first batch of beneficiaries who will start working on July 25 up to September 5.
Olivarez said the second batch of students will start working on August 1 to September 12.
He said that out of the P570 that each SPES beneficiary will be receiving, P342 will be shouldered by the city government while the remaining P228 will come from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The mayor also explained that SPES is an annual program that provides opportunities to students to earn during summer which they can use for their enrollment.
