President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has reaffirmed the Philippines' commitment to the United States (US), saying his administration will continue to look at the US as an ally.

"We echo your commitment that the United States is committed to the Philippines, the Philippines is also committed to the United States," the President said when he received the credentials of new US ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Loss Carlson at the Malacañang Palace.
"Committed to the continuing relationship between our two countries, in the many dimensions and the multi-faceted nature of our nature of our relationship between the United States and the Philippines," Marcos added.
The chief executive stressed that the long-standing relationship between the two countries is "deep and enduring," adding that the "many cycles of difficulty" has deepened the countries' ties.
"It has not loosened the relationship, it has not made us farther from one another," the President further said.
Marcos conveyed that the Philippines, under his leadership, will depend on strong ties, such as the Philippine-US ties, to keep the stability of the country and the region.
"We continue to look to the United States for leadership when it comes to world events and we continue to look to the United States as a friend, as a partner, as an ally," he said.
"In the face of very volatile global political and economic situation, it is these strong ties that we have with our friends and perhaps the longest of those, the United States of America, we depend on those sides to keep the stability of not only our country but also the region and for that matter, the world— the stability to slowly help us and guide us through to the post-pandemic world," the President added.
Carlson, who arrived on July 21 in Manila, presented her credentials to Marcos on the next day, July 22.
The ambassador conveyed to the President that the US is a "reliable partner" of the Philippines.
"As you act to ensure the security, prosperity, and freedoms of the Philippine people, we are here to help, and invested in your success. We look forward to working together to develop new trade and investment ties, partner on clean energy solutions, protect marine and terrestrial resources, and help tackle the climate crisis," Carlson said.
