LPA to bring scattered rains over Caraga, Eastern Visayas

(MANILA BULLETIN)

Caraga and Eastern Visayas may experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to a low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday afternoon, July 24.

PAGASA estimated the location of the LPA at 605 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte, as of 3 p.m.

The weather bureau advised those in Caraga and Eastern Visayas to stay vigilant as “moderate to at times heavy rains” may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA also warned against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.

Moreover, Mindanao may experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
