Vanessa Sarno lived up to the lofty billing of being the heir apparent to Hidilyn Diaz, this time copping three gold medals, including the junior's title in the women’s -71kg, in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship on Friday (Manila time), July 22 at the Yunusobod Sports Complex in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Sarno made sure to leave a lasting impression as the last Filipino entry in the tournament, lifting 100kgs in snatch for her first gold then doubled it with a swift 130kgs showing in the clean and jerk for a total of 230kgs which was worthy of the junior’s title.
Retsu Anggi from Indonesia finished far second with a total lift of 212kgs, powered by a bronze in snatch with 92 and a silver in clear and jerk with 120.
Korea’s Kim Hyemin settled for third with a 211kg total after a 93kg lift in snatch and 118 in clean and jerk.
