De Vera stays as CHED chairperson

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has reappointed Prospero "Popoy" de Vera III as the chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced this on Saturday morning, July 23.

“Maraming salamat, Pangulong Bongbong Marcos, sa iyong tiwala sa pagbibigay ng pagkakataon na mabigyan natin ng libre, de kalidad, at makabuluhang mataas na edukasyon ang kabataang Pilipino! (Thank you very much, President Bongbong Marcos, for your trust in giving us the opportunity to provide free, quality, and meaningful higher education to the Filipino youth!),” said De Vera in a Facebook post.

De Vera served as CHED commissioner from Sept. 13, 2016 until Jan. 24, 2018. He then began to lead the Commission when he was appointed by former president Rodrigo Duterte in 2018 to serve as CHED chairperson until July 21, 2022.
