BACOLOD CITY – A 15-year-old girl drowned in a beach resort in Barangay Alimango, Escalante City, Negros Occidental Wednesday, July 20.

According to Police Corporal Seanlen Nueva, investigator of the Escalante City Police Station, the victim, along with her six relatives and friend who are all minors, went to the beach resort after attending a birthday party.
Nueva said the victims walked from the shoreline to the middle of the sea as it was low tide at that time.
However, when they were on their way back to the shore to eat lunch, a high tide occurred, and they were separated from each other due to big waves.
Nueva said that six of them were rescued, and four of them were brought to a hospital.
However, the victim, who didn’t know how to swim, went missing and was found a few hours later by rescuers submerged in a fish cage.
