The Quezon City government will allow progressive groups to hold protest rallies along eastbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue during the first State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 25.
This is after the officials from the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS), the Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU), Task Force on Transport and Traffic Management, and QCPD District Director Police Brig. Gen. Remus Medina held a meeting to discuss the appeal for reconsideration filed by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan).
Progressive groups may conduct protest rallies, marches, and assemblies along Commonwealth Ave. (eastbound) up to the corner of Tandang Sora Ave., while PBBM and allied groups will be allowed to conduct their activities along Interim Batasan Pambansa (IBP) road near Sinagtala St. in Barangay Batasan Hills.
On Thursday, July 21, the DPOS denied Bayan’s request to stage a protest rally along Batasan Road in Quezon City this coming Monday.
Mayor Joy Belmonte, however, ordered for the review of counter-points for protest rallies and gatherings.
