University of Santo Tomas great Bal David is reportedly set to be named as the new head coach of the Growling Tigers.

The development surfaced Friday night, July 22, as first reported by Tiebreaker Times.
David will be replacing Jinino Manansala in the post come UAAP Season 85.
The Manila Bulletin tried to reach Institute of Physical Education and Athletics head Fr. Rodel Cansancio, OP for another confirmation but has yet to reply as of this writing.
Manansala, meanwhile, said he is still awaiting official announcement but did not confirm nor deny the development.
The initial report, however, included a photo of Cansancio and David striking a pose together.
The Varsitarian, the official student publication of UST, for its part, also confirmed the development.
David made his name known in the PBA after bagging two championships during the 1997 Commissioner’s Cup and the 2004 Fiesta Cub with the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings. He was also a four-time PBA All-Star.
