ASG member wanted for murder nabbed after 6 years in hiding

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The police and military arrested Thursday, July 21, in Sacol Island here a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group wanted for murder after six years in hiding.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-9 Public Information Officer, identified the suspect as Janib Taib Ilun, 42, a resident of Sacol Island.

Ilun is also reportedly a member of a kidnap-for-ransom group headed by the Pingli brothers in Basilan.

He had a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued by the Regional Trial Court here on June 29, 2016.

The suspect was placed under the custody of Zamboanga City Police Station 11.

Zamboanga City Police Office acting director Police Col. Alex Lorenzo commended police personnel for locating and apprehending Ilun.
