Korean actress Park Eun-bin thankful for global popularity of 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo'

Korean actress Park Eun-bin, 29, is receiving a lot of love from around the world because of her drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and is very thankful for it.

Park Eun-bin plays the title role of Woo Young-woo in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” who is a lawyer with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is working in a law firm.

“Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental condition involving persistent challenges with social communication, restricted interests, and repetitive behavior,” according to the American Psychiatric Association website.

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has brought fame to Park Eun-bin. The drama grabbed first place for the second straight week among non-English shows on Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 chart with 45.58 million hours viewed from July 11 to 17.

This is an increase compared to 23.95 million hours viewed when it debuted at No. 1 on the Netflix chart for the period July 4 to 10.

Park Eun-bin said she is grateful for this.

“I am truly grateful for the global viewers who are exploring Young-woo’s world with us. Please remember to stay tuned until the very end!” she said, according to Netflix.

According to Netflix, Park Eun-bin was initially hesitant to play the role that it took the director and writer one year to convince her.

To prepare for the role, she met with expert professors specializing in the study of ASD.

“I focused on her sincere heart. I didn’t want to limit this character, so I was really open to all possible options in expressing her heart freely. She is such a spirited and courageous person, and I was able to learn a lot from this character,” said Park Eun-bin.

In the latest chart, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” landed in the top 10 in 22 countries and regions on Netflix.

It is No. 1 in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, and in the top 10 in Peru, Egypt, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Maldives, Oman, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.

Joining Park Eun-bin in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” are actors Kang Tae-oh and Kang Ki-young.
