"We have surpassed and exceeded the recalibrated target as of yesterday, July 20, 2022," Comelec Acting Spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said in a statement Thursday, July 21.

Data from the poll body showed that there are already 2,119,878 new registrants.

These are the 15 to 17 years old with 1,326,415 applicants; the 18 to 30 years old with 680,497; and

31 years old and above with 112,966.

The poll body revealed its recalibrated target of new registrants for both Barangay and SK of 2,067,351 last July 19.

Laudiangco said the figure was largely based on the current estimates of the Philippine Statistics Authority that out of the projected 2023 Philippine Population of 112,892,781, those who will be of the voting age will total to 73,538,694.

The initial target of Comelec was over 1 million new registrants.

Voter registration resumed last July 4 and will end on July 23.
