Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Rep. Margarita Nograles and Pinuno Party-list Rep. Ivan Guintu filed House resolutions (HRs) congratulating Filipino athletes and sports teams for their recent achievements in international competitions.

Five currently unnumbered HRs were filed to congratulate the following players and sports teams who won major awards in their respective competitions:
1) The Philippine Women’s Football Team or the “Filipinas” who won the first ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Women’s Championship, which the Philippines hosted last July 4 to July 17.
The Filipinas roster during the 2022 AFF consisted of 27 members: Inna Palacios, Olivia McDaniel, Kiara Fontanilla, Malea Cesar, Dominique Randle, Hali Long, Chantelle Maniti, Sofia Harrison, Eva Madarang, Tara Shelton, Maya Alcantara, Jaclyn Sawicki, Tahnai Annis, Camille Rodriguez, Jessica Miclat, Ryley Bugay, Anicka Castaneda, Kaya Hawkinson, Quinley Quezada, Katrina Guillou, Sara Eggesvik, Jessika Cowart, Sarina Bolden, Isabella Flanigan, Carleigh Frilles, Alisha Del Campo, and Alyssa Ube.

2) The Philippine Taekwondo National Team that won several medals in the 2022 Chuncheon Korea Open International Taekwondo Championships
Gold medal winners include: Kobe Macario (Men’s Freestyle, Over 17); and Rodolfo Reyes, Enrico Mella, and Angelica Gaw (Recognized Poomsae, Mixed Teams)
Silver medal winners include: Nikki Oliva (Women’s Freestyle, Over 17); Jocel Ninobla (Recognized Poomsae, Female Under 30); and Patrick Perez, Jocel Ninobla, and Nikki Oliva (Recognized Poomsae, Mixed Teams)
Bronze medal winners include: Kurt Barbosa (Men’s 54 kg); Laila Delo (Women’s 67 kg); Darius Venerable (Men’s Freestyle, Over 17); Jordan Dominguez and Juvenile Crisostomo (Freestyle Pair, Over 17); Aidane Laxa (Recognized Poomsae, Female Under 30); and Rodolfo Reyes (Recognized Poomsae, Male Under 30)

3) Filipino youth athlete Angeline Colonia, a Grade 11 student, won big in the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships (AYJWC) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan last July 17.
Colonia, under the 40 kg category, won a gold medal in the snatch with a lift of 62 kg and a silver medal in the clean jerk with a lift of 72 kg. She won a gold medal overall in the competition for lifting a net weight of 134 kg.
4) Filipino student athlete Prince Keil Delos Santos participated in the AYJWC in Uzbekistan last July 17, and also won medals..
Delos Santos, under the 49 kg category, won two bronze medals. He ranked third in the clean and jerk with a lift of 103 kg, and ranked fourth in the snatch with a lift of 83 kg. He placed third overall in the competition for lifting a total of 186 kg.
5) Filipino-Japanese karateka Junna Tsukii was awarded the gold in the Women’s Kumite 50 kg event at the 2022 World Games in Birmingham, USA. She beat Venezuelan Yorgeliz Salazar and Japanese Miho Miyahara to earn her title. Both her competitors were top-ranked world champion athletes.
