New dates have been set for the postponed 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China as concerned officials unanimously decided to hold it on Sept. 23 to Oct. 8, 2023.
The multi-sport regional event was originally set Sept. 10 to 25 this year, but was delayed in response to Chinese Covid-19 restrictions.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Executive Board approved the new dates after an OCA task force discussed this with the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and other stakeholders.
This would be China’s third staging of the Asian Games following Beijing in 1990 and Guangzhou in 2010.
The last time it was held was in 2018 in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia, with the Philippines winning four gold, two silver and 15 bronze medals.
