Tropical storm Domeng exits PH area of responsibility — PAGASA

Tropical storm Domeng (international name “Aere”) has sped up and is now outside the country’s area of responsibility, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Saturday, July 2.

In a bulletin issued at 11 a.m., PAGASA said that Domeng was already at 990 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

However, moderate to rough seas over the western seaboards of Northern, Central, and Southern Luzon may prevail due to the influence of Domeng, typhoon Chaba (formerly “Caloy”), and the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

A gale warning remains in effect, as sea conditions are risky, especially for small sea craft.

“Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions,” PAGASA said.

PAGASA, in its 4 a.m. bulletin, warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered moderate to heavy monsoon rains over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Kalayaan Islands.

The effect of the habagat was expected to further weaken as the tropical storm “Domeng” (international name “Aere”) and severe tropical storm “Chaba” (formerly “Caloy”) continued to move away from the country.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may prevail over the rest of the country in the next 24 hours.
