Three Communist terrorists surrender in Isabela


ISABELA -- Three members of the Communist terrorist group surrendered to the 502nd Infantry ‘Liberator’ Brigade at San Pablo and Santiago City, Isabela from June 27-30.

On Saturday , Lt. Gen. Ernesto Torres Jr, Commander of Northern Luzon Command, identified the CTG members as alias ‘Lerio,’ the former secretary of Central Front Isabela and currently the Education Staff of Komiteng Probinsyang Isabela; alias ‘Del,’ Intelligence Officer and Squad Leader of Squad Dos; and alias ‘Victor,’ member of Squad Uno.

The three men were all under the dwindling communist terrorist group Komiteng Probinsyang Isabela of the Komiteng Rehiyon-Cagayan Valley (KR-CV).

Information gathered by the Army had it that ‘Lerio’ and ‘Del’ have been on the government’s Periodic Status Report on the Threat Groups (PSRTG) watchlist for the 4th quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Laurence Mina, Commander of Joint Task Force Tala, lauded the troops' accomplishment in the area of operations.

The ‘Tala’ soldiers vowed to intensify their operations to eradicate terrorism and assist the government in its fight to end local communist armed conflict by spreading the genuine reforms of peace of the government to the remaining hiding members of the terror group.

Lt. Gen. Torres likewise said that ‘the series of defeats suffered by Communist terrorists in North and Central Luzon caused their low morale.’

The Nolcom Commander is appealing to the remaining Communist terrorists in the Northern Philippines to abandon armed struggle and start anew with the help of the government’s reintegration program for them.
