Company worker nabbed for stealing P600,000 cash in Caloocan City
Caloocan City police arrested a company employee for allegedly stealing over P600,000 in cash, which he was supposed to deposit in bank on Monday, July 18.
The Caloocan City Police Station (CCPS) identified the suspect as Gerardo Caraballa, 49, a resident of Camarin, Caloocan City.
According to the police, the suspect went to the company’s office in Barangay 177 at around 8 a.m. on Monday.
One of his co-workers handed him a gray back pack containing P630,000 cash which he was tasked to deposit in a bank in Quezon City.
Police said the suspect later called up one of the company’s staff, claiming that some unidentified men held him up and took the bag from him.
Caraballa, along with the company’s operations manager and two staff members, went to the CCPS Substation 11 at Sitio Maritik, Brgy. 175 to report the incident.
During police questioning, however, the investigators found out that no robbery-holdup occurred since the suspect had deposited the company’s money to other banks.
The CCPS said that Caraballa is yet to reveal where he hid the money and the bag.
Police said the suspect will be charged with qualified theft.
