Weekend rains force hundreds to evacuate in Quezon City – NDRRMC
More than 200 individuals living in low-lying areas were forced to flee from their homes as heavy rains brought by severe thunderstorms caused flashfloods in Quezon City on Sunday, July 17.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday, July 18, that 62 families composed of 226 individuals were evacuated in two barangays in Quezon City amid the downpour.
In Barangay Masambong, 37 families consisted of 114 individuals evacuated to a barangay covered court after their houses were submerged in floodwater.
Meanwhile, 25 families consisted of 112 individuals evacuated in Barangay Sta. Lucia and proceeded to a barangay covered court where they spent the night.
The heavy rains experienced in Quezon City caused chest-deep floods in some barangays, prompting authorities to order an evacuation for the safety of the residents.
The local government unit of Quezon City advised residents to stay vigilant, monitor weather updates, and watch out for slippery roads that are prone to accidents even as the weather has already improved.
