LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Hundreds of residents here were amazed and terrified when they spotted a waterspout in the sea off the Baywalk around 5:50 p.m. Sunday, July 17.

Some were dropping by the beach and some were just near their residence when the waterspout appeared.
Those with cellular phones were able take a photo and video of the waterspout.
An FB post of Kagawad (councilor) Darwina Ruiz Cruz of the waterspout was shared by more than 1,000 netizens and earned hundreds of reactions.
“Nakakatakot naman, bigla na lang namin nakita yan, namamasyal lang kami sa dagat (It’s scary. We just saw that when we were strolling on the beach),” a netizen said.
Others who saw the waterspout tagged their families to enable them to be aware of what is going on here.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) defines a waterspout as a tornado-like vortex and cloud occurring over a body of water, frequently in tropical waters.
A dangerous natural phenomenon, weathermen advised people to move to safer grounds when they see a waterspout.
