LPA, 'habagat' to bring scattered rains over most of PH
A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or “habagat” may bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers, and thunderstorms over most of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday afternoon, July 18.
Those in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas, and Mindanao were advised to stay vigilant as “moderate to at times heavy rains” may trigger flash floods or landslides.
As of 3 p.m, the LPA was spotted 65 kilometers west-northwest of Masbate City.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often accompanied by sudden heavy rains, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
