Robbery suspect shot dead in Pasay City

A 38-year-old man who allegedly tried to steal metal furring from a construction site was shot dead by a security guard in Pasay City on July 16.

Col. Cesar Paday-os, city police chief, identified the victim-suspect as Albert Javier, a resident of Macapagal Boulevard, Barangay 76, Pasay. He suffered a gunshot wound in the body and died on the spot.

The security guard who shot Javier was identified by the police as Celso Piloton, 40, of Eagle Guard Security Service and a resident of Parañaque City.

The incident happened at about 11:30 p.m. at the construction site of NS Mangio Constructionin Palm Beach West, Macapagal Boulevard, Pasay.

Paday-os said according to security guard Arnold Antonio Jr., who is from the same security agency, Piloton was roving around the construction site when he noticed three male individuals who were allegedly stealing metal furring.

Antonio told the police that Piloton prevented the three suspects from fleeing but Javier allegedly pulled out an ice pick and tried to attack the security guard.

Piloton moved quickly to avoid the attack and pulled out his .38-caliber revolver and shot Javier.
