Cops seize guns, grenades in Batangas raid

Police seized a cache of firearms and explosive devices in a raid on the safehouse of a member of a criminal group in San Juan, Batangas.

Police Col. Glicerio Cansilao, director of the Batangas Police Provincial Office, said 37-year old suspect Jay-ar Bas was not around during the raid but his men confiscated several short and long firearms in Sitio Marecacawan in Barangay Quipot on Saturday, July 16.

Seized were several pieces of 9mm pistols, armalite rifles, .40 caliber pistol, magazines, bullets, rifle grenades and hand grenades.

Bas is a native of Davao City and is a member of the Eleazar Rocio Criminal Group.

“The group is engaged in gunrunning activities and illegal gambling and is operating in the 4^th District of Batangas,” said Cansilao.

He said the operation was based on confirmed intelligence reports about the presence of the suspect in the area.

Armed with a search warrant, the Batangas Police raided the area.
