9 NPA rebels seeking peace surrender in Quezon

CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Calamba City, Laguna – Wanting to live a peaceful life, nine New People’s Army (NPA) rebels operating in Quezon surrendered to the government Friday, July 15.

According to them, their lives in hiding did not bring peace to them and the families they left behind.

They said they decided to surrender when they realized that life became more difficult for them compared to what the Leftist group promised them.

According to them, they contemplated surrender after they found out that the government is providing programs to former rebels to help them have a sustainable livelihood.

The nine rebels, according to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 4-A, voluntarily surrendered after intensive convincing by the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-A and Infanta, Quezon police station.

The nine rebels belong to Kilusang Larangan Gerilya (KLG)-Narciso and are remnants of the dismantled KLG-Cesar.

The surrenderers handed over a Colt M16 (defaced) with two long magazines with 58 rounds of ammunition and a shotgun with three rounds of ammunition to authorities.
