Technician dies, back riders hurt in motorcycle crash in Quezon


LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A 22-year-old technician died while his two back riders were injured when their motorcycle crashed into a concrete light post in Barangay Ibabang Dupay here Saturday, July 16.

Case officer Police Executive Master Sgt. Aldin Rañola identified the fatality as Carl Aljhon Lagarde Regonay of Sitio Tando North Employees Village, Barangay Gulang-Gulang, here.

Rañola said Regonay and his back riders – Christian Tinamel Torio, 24, and Jonathan Pursenguez Torio, 20,  residents of Purok Atin-Atin, Barangay Ibabang Dupay – were about to cross Gomez St. when he suddenly lost control of the motorcycle and slammed into a concrete light post.

The victims were taken to a hospital where Regonay died and the Torios are still under treatment due to injuries.  

The accident happened at past 6 a.m. but the duty guard only reported the incident to the police at around 8 a.m. By that time, the Torios were being attended to and Regonay was already dead.
