Man under police custody in Tuguegarao City dies

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – A 23-year-old man under police custody died Friday, July 15, due to suspected internal injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident here Thursday, July 14.

The Cagayan Provincial Police Office identified the victim as “Mike,” 23, single, of St. Paul St., Cataggaman Nuevo, this city.

Mike figured in a motorcycle accident July 14 on the provincial road in Barangay Cataggaman Nuevo.

He was taken to a hospital along with his back rider who was declared dead on arrival.

Mike was later released and taken by police into temporary custody to the Community Precinct Don Domingo, Balzain East, here for inquest proceedings.

However, at about 12:58 p.m. July 15, the victim’s mother asked for help because her son felt dizzy and urinating blood.

The Tuguegarao City Rescue 1111 was called in and he was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Police suspect that the victim died of internal bleeding from injuries he sustained in the accident.

“Posibleng ang biktima ay may problema o tinamaang organs sa kanyang pagka-aksidente na posibleng dahilan ng pag-ihi nito ng dugo at pagkamatay (It is possible that the victim urinated blood and died because he had an earlier problem or sustained injuries to his vital organs in the accident).”
