Members of the Caloocan City Environmental Management Department (CEMD) and the Public Safety and Traffic Management Department (PSTMD) conducted a simultaneous clean-up drive in the city on Saturday, July 16.
The activity was held following Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan's directive to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness in the city's public areas and roads.
The local government said around 50 CEMD-North personnel performed fogging, trimming, sweeping, and declogging within the North Caloocan City Hall compound and the areas surrounding it.
Meanwhile, around 60 CEMD-South and PSTMD employees also held clean-up and flushing operations along Malolos Avenue in South Caloocan.
Personnel of baranggays 140, 143, 144, 145, 146, 147, 150, 151, 152, 154, and 155 also conducted clean-up operations in their areas.
The mayor thanked the employees who participated in the activity despite working on a weekend to ensure that the city's cleanliness is maintained.
He also called on the residents to cooperate with the city's efforts by securing proper waste segregation and disposal.
“Inaasahan ko pa po ang inyong tuloy-tuloy na pakikiisa sa ating hangarin. Ito rin ang ating panawagan sa ating mga kababayan na simulan natin ito sa ating mga tahanan, sa tamang pagsisilid at pagtatapon ng basura (I am looking forward to your continued cooperation in our cause. This is also a call to the people to start it in their homes through proper garbage disposal)," Malapitan said.
The city earlier held a community clean-up drive in Barangays 172, 177 (North) and 18 (South) in line with the mayor's instructions to prevent the spread of dengue-carrying mosquitoes.
