Two crew members were injured when a fire suddenly broke out in a ship docked in Lapu Lapu City, Cebu before dawn Saturday, July 16.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said that MV Trans Asia 1 was docked in the vicinity waters off Barangay Punta Engaño when it caught fire around 2 a.m.
The vessel, owned and operated by Trans Asia Shipping Lines Inc., was supposed to undergo repairs when the incident occured.
Onboard the vessel were seven crew members and a security guard whose identities were not disclosed as of this writing.
"The eight individuals were onboard to ensure that the vessel's equipment and materials will not be stolen," the PCG said.

The PCG immediately deployed Special Operations Group (SOG) teams to assist the crew members and the guard as they abandoned the ship during the incident.
Two crew members were brought to the nearest hospital for medical assistance after they sustained first degree burns.
According to initial report, the vessel was already grounded in the area after sustaining damages during the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in December 2021.
Investigators have conducted an investigation to determine the cause of fire and the cost of damage to properties.
