Soon-to-launch streaming service AQ Prime, in collaboration with its Korean partners, vowed to bring in a top K-Pop group to hold a concert in the Philippines before the end of the year or early next year.
Â
"It's a concert (that) will convey the message that we should work together to save the environment of the Philippines and create an eco-friendly country in the future," AQ Prime said in a statement.Â
The K-Pop group still has to be named for reasons of confidentiality, and AQ Prime said they did not want to make a premature announcement.
Â
Aside from BTS, the top K-pop bands are Black Pink, EXO, Momoland, Super Junior, 2NE1, LOONA, Got7, to name just a few. So who could it be?
Â
"Our lips are sealed for now but it's definitely one of the Top 3 K-pop groups which will perform for a good cause. Because of their fandom, we will choose a big venue like the Philippine Arena," AQ Prime publicist Rodel Fernando revealed.
A K-Pop concert to promote the preservation of Mother Earth makes sense because AQ Prime's Korean partner, SSN Networks is engaged in clean, renewable energy through the PCER Foundation. The company Chairman, Son Hwang Hwan, said they make use of water turbine generators to provide an alternative source of power to replace fossil fuels.
"If eco-friendly power energy is adopted by means of water turbines , the Philippines will be a model country for carbon neutrality," he noted.
Mr. Son said he will invest in the production of movies and TV series that will showcase the beautiful geography of the Philippines to the world. It was learned that Korean actors will soon be going to the country to shoot the films here. One of them is Choi Moo Sung, star of Reply 1988, who is coming back to Manila after attending the AQ Prime launch event last June.
At the same time, Filipino artists will also be filming on location in Korea and will even be tapped to be a part in some K-dramas, it was learned. This is covered under the agreement of AQ Prime and its Korean partners.
