Public warned against fake solicitation using Vergeire's name

The Department of Health (DOH) warned the public of scammers who are using the name of the agency's officer-in-charge, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, to solicit money.

In an advisory, the DOH said it received reports about a fake document requesting for an "assistance and soliciting donations in conducting an alleged nationwide medical mission." The fake document contains the signature of Vergeire.

"No agreement or document has been signed by the Officer-in-Charge," the DOH said.

"Be vigilant in identifying these circulating fake and forged documents as these can cause misinformation. Worse, they are criminals," it added.

The DOH asked the public to only get information on the official website and social media platforms of the agency.

"For correct and verified information from the Department, you may refer to the official website of the DOH or any of our online platforms on Facebook and Twitter," it said.
