Paranaque Mayor Eric Olivarez said the city has not observed any significant increase in Covid-19 cases.
Olivarez attributed the manageable Covid-19 status in the city to the health centers’ continuous conduct of RT-PCR swab tests in compliance with the PDITR (prevention, detection, isolation, treatment and reintegration) strategy of the national government.
He said the city has surpassed its Covid-19 vaccination goals, with 808,165 adults (138 percent of the target population) having received the first shot and 784,101 their second dose (134 percent).
A total of 328,902 adults or 42 percent of the target have already received their first booster shot, while 23,689 have already received their second booster.
He said 37,607 children or 42 percent of the target among children between five and 11 years old have been given the first dose. Out of these, 31,689 received their second shot.
Individuals under the 12-17 age group, 57,887 or 78 percent of the target have received their first shot. From these recipients, nearly 91 percent or 52,566 have been given the second vaccine dose, while 1,414 got their first booster shot.
Olivarez said the high vaccination rate in the city has given his administration the confidence that the majority of the people are protected against Covid-19, adding that even the children can return safely to face-to-face classes by November.
“We are thankful to all our health personnel, our doctors, nurses and medical technicians for all their sacrifice in fighting Covid-19 and other diseases in our city,” Olivarez said.
“They are truly the heroes of our time and they deserve all the support that we can give.”
