GSIS opens 10,000 slots for educational subsidy program
State-run Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) opened 10,000 slots for the GSIS Educational Subsidy Program (GESP) for the academic year 2022-2023.

Under GESP, at least 10,000 college students will benefit P10,000 from GSIS every year until they finish their chosen courses. This initiative is part of the government-run social insurance institution’s corporate social responsibility.
Qualified applicants for the subsidy program shall meet the following qualifications: “active members with permanent status, salary grade equivalent to 24 or below, updated premium payments, with no underpaid or unpaid loan amortization of not more than three months,” said GSIS in a press statement on Thursday, July 14.
Meanwhile, student dependents, according to GSIS, must be enrolled in a four or five-year course in any state or private university across the country as long as it is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Applications will only run until Aug. 31, 2022, GSIS added. Existing data also showed that of the 10,000 beneficiaries last school year 2021-2022, at least 1,581 are from Metro Manila, 1,994 from north Luzon, 2,093 are from south Luzon, 2,078 from Visayas, while 2,254 are from Mindanao.
