PSC to reward Junna Tsukii P1 million for winning gold at the World Games

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) will reward karateka Junna Tsukii P1 million for winning the gold medal in the World Games 2022 in Birmingham, Alabama.
The bonus is based on Republic Act 10699, otherwise known as the Incentives Act, where athletes who won medals in the Southeast Asian Games, Asian Games, Olympics and other major international competitions are rewarded correspondingly for their efforts.
Tsukii bagged the country’s first gold medal in this year’s edition of the Games after ruling the women’s -50kg division.
The Fil-Japanese prevailed over Yorgelis Salazar of Venezuela, 2-0, to also become the first Filipino medalist in this edition.
Tsukii also became the second gold medalist in the World Games after billiards champion Carlo Biado won the 9-ball men’s singles gold in the 2017 edition in Wroclaw, Poland.
