This was clarified by Allan Alfon, president and general manager of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway Corp., after social media  posts offering a stop at CCLEX in tour packages surfaced.

Alfon pointed out that stopping at the CCLEX is prohibited for security reasons.

He further reminded motorists that CCLEX is a traffic-discipline zone.

“Definitely it’s not allowed. We never accredited those packages that is coming out in the public. I would like to clarify that we are not allowing, we never accredited those packages,” Alfon said in a news forum Tuesday, July 12.

Alfon said security personnel is deployed round-the-clock to reprimand those who may stop at the 8.9-kilometer bridge for picture-taking.

Alfon disclosed that there are plans to put up a center outside the bridge where people can gather to take a closer look at the bridge.

Alfon said that based on the suggestion of Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, a “bisita center" (vista center) should be put up to cater those who would want to take their pictures with the iconic infrastracture.

“We are now planning or it’s on the drawing table already,” Alfon said.

Alfon assured that the CCLEX will be part of the campaign to boost tourism in Cebu.
