Metro Manila’s Covid-19 positivity rate has increased from 10.9 percent to 11.5 percent as of July 13, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said on Thursday, July 14.
This increase in the positivity rate could lead to over 1,000 new Covid-19 cases on Thursday, July 14, said David in a tweet.

“A look at the plot of new Covid-19 cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) as of July 13 shows that the trend may have already peaked. However, the positivity rate increased to 11.5 percent from 10.9 percent as of July 9, and this could lead to more than 1,000 new cases in the NCR on July 14,” David furthered.
Based on their projections, David added that if the country did see an increase in the number of infections, this could mean that the peak may be happening soon, unless prolonged.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 hospitalization rate in the NCR has likewise increased to 30.2 percent with 1,856 hospital beds currently occupied. Intensive care unit (ICU) occupancy also rose to 22.6 percent. Of all the indicators, only the region’s reproduction number has decreased to 1.36 based on OCTA’s data.
Despite these developments, David assured the public that these metrics remain within the “safe” levels. Adherence to health protocols is still advised.
